Lisa and Iain were an exciting couple to photograph, because we’ve been talking about it for almost 3 years now! Lisa and I met a while back, and she’s had us hired for her wedding ever since. I’ve been hearing so much about Iain as well so it was wonderful to finally meet him. He definitely lived up to his reputation, both of them are such sweethearts. What I also loved about this shoot was the location. The photos were all taken on Iain’s family property in Saanich. I fall in love with Vancouver Island over and over all the time, and this was another one of those days for me. It was SUCH a beautiful property. What a dream. I’m so happy for Lisa and Iain, who will be living there after they get married.

Yesterday late afternoon, Tristan and I met up with Cyril and Elaine for their engagement session, just a few short days away from their wedding. Elaine lives in Calgary and I was shooting in Toronto for the past two weeks, so this week was our only time together before Saturday! Luckily we had great weather, and by the time we met the heat and had gone down a bit. In a month they are leaving for the UK and are feeling nostalgic about the city, so we decided to do our session at some of the Victoria attractions that they walk past everyday. I wanted to get these up before their wedding this weekend, so here are a few from our evening together. I’m really looking forward to their wedding at the beautiful Church and State Vineyard, but mostly i’m excited about it because they are super cute!

Helen and Colin’s wedding is coming up soon, so I thought i’d better get some pics up on the blog! I shot these photos earlier in June on a trip to Vancouver, around when I photographed Sonia and Jason’s engagement. I always enjoy taking pictures in the city, especially because I love the way the light bounces around the buildings. With these two we barely had to go anywhere to find the light, almost staying with a 5 block radius of where we started! Helen and Colin are just so lovely you can’t even resist them. I had such a easy and wonderful time with them when we first met, talking about weddings, yoga and books – my 3 favourite things! I can’t wait until their wedding to see all the details come together. Here are just a few of my favs from our day.

I met Mariel and Jesse in 2007. I was shooting their friend’s wedding and was sitting at their table. Now it’s a couple years later and I am shooting their wedding this time. Tristan and I met up with them about mid may to shoot their engagement, and it was an absolutely perfect day. The light was beautiful, the couple is beautiful… we were ecstatic! A few days ago we met up with them again for a glass of wine and it was the funniest “client meeting” i’ve had in a long time. We were laughing so hard that Mariel was sliding off her chair and my face was turned beet red. Granted it seems these days i’m always fighting off blushing, but still. Their wedding is in two days and I am so stoked for saturday to roll around. Here are my favourite black and whites from the day (big surprise i’m posting an all black and white blog again). This week I went out for my first engagement session of the year with Savanna and Dan. They are also the next wedding that we’re going to be shooting… they are getting married this May! I met Savanna and Dan last year and we spend a long time hanging out over coffee (and when I say coffee I really mean chai latte) exchanging lame sarcastic jokes… the kind only a few people think are funny. They worked for us at least.
So we waited months for spring and for a perfect weather day… and it came to us. Between the grey skies this week there was sunday, a perfect day for their engagement session. Savanna and Dan most often spend time walking along the coast, so it only seemed natural to photograph them there. We met in Cook Street Village and made our way down to Dallas Road and onto the beach as the sun was setting. How poetic. The only thing more poetic than our long walk on the beach at sunset was how cute Savanna and Dan are together…. and maybe the way Savanna’s hair shines in the sunlight. Both of them claimed to be nervous about the shoot, but they fed so naturally off of each other that I didn’t hear one word about nerves for the entire shoot. Instead they were just cute cute cute. I can’t wait for their wedding… the engagement session made all of us that much more excited for May to come!
